machine A

New Orleans, LA

machine A is what happens when acting meets improv, when time meets fast forward, when characters meet given circumstances. machine A is what happens when the train starts to wobble off the rails, when a couple becomes two singles, when your one great moment happens without you realizing it. machine A is what happens when routine meets road-block, time meets cliff edge, baby meets grandpa-baby, crush meets expectation, end meets beginning. machine A is what happens.Based in New Orleans at The New Movement, machine A is the creation of performers Cecile Monteyne and Chris Kaminstein. During the course of their fully improvised show, the pair follow two characters over time to create moments of comedy, tenderness, and dramatic climax.  machine A performs regularly at The New Movement, and also tours.

Here’s one of their 2012 shows which has been lovingly titled “The Dog Show.”

Brows

New Orleans, La

Brows [Sarah Baird, Colleen Allerton, Michael Glaviano, Joel Flachsbart, and Andy Ledford] is The New Movement’s first troupe pioneering the latest form to come out of the theater: The Dusty. The form’s premise is simple–no sweep edits, ever. The outcome is an extravagant, free-for-all of intricate connections and relationship webs bringing together the best that “high brow” and “low brow” have to offer for audiences. Since forming in late 2012, Brows has developed a strong following and exciting show experience (including the notorious “brows!” chant). Audiences will be wowed by the speed, dexterity, and intricacy of Brows’ improv, while fellow improvisers will be curious how they can embrace this exciting, new form.
